"We Are More Than I" is a conscious approach to house music that blends a powerful, energetic beat with an even stronger message of racial reconciliation. Much of Ionne’s music reflects his experiences as both an African American and an openly gay man. And his message extends to others who come from vastly different backgrounds but find themselves in the intersections, so to speak, relating to his appeals for positive social change. Ionne’s words in “We Are More Than I” offer a chance to think about overcoming rather than falling over.
